Stevie T's Hilarious Review: The Dollar Store Guitar Disaster

Hape Kid's Wooden Toy Ukulele in Blue
By: Steve Terreberry
In an entertaining, comical review, Stevie T tests out a dollar store guitar to see if it's worth even the minimal investment. Right away, the toy guitar’s low-quality construction is apparent - it's hard to tune and holds tune incredibly poorly. Despite its aesthetically pleasing paint job and the appeal of low cost, the guitar's functionality is seriously limited. The toy's tiny frets, plastic finish, and tendency to fall out of tune quickly make it very challenging to play any actual music. Even simple techniques such as tapping, sweep-picking, or 'mindless shredding' proved almost impossible due to the guitar’s poor design.
Nevertheless, Stevie T persists, recording a song utilizing only the dollar store guitar obtained through a microphone due to the lack of an input jack. The process is frustrating—to the point of being comically exasperating—but Stevie T pulls it off. Despite all his efforts, however, he concludes that the toy guitar is really not worth it, even as a plaything for a child interested in guitar. While it may seem like a fun, affordable option, the lack of function and poor quality make the dollar store guitar more frustrating than fun in the end.
